As a professional singer, I know how hard it is too sing with overwhelming emotion and worse - tears! With all the mucus in your ears and nose and throat, let me tell ya, it's vocalist's nightmare. But Fantasia surpassed most human beings again - she not only held her pitch, her melody, her tempo, she even used those crazy emotions and brought that otherwise bland song to new heavenly heights...sheer genius.

As for the kneeling down at the end, it's not an act. It's a bit like trance medium's exhaustion at the end of a session. She's given us her ALL, and only the hardest of us did not feel it and be moved.

To me, Fantasia was channeling The Force. It's a family tradition. It's UpThere's reward to the generations of spiritual services. She broke the family curse. She's redeemed. OK this is sounding heavy, but Fantasia is very intense...

She poured her Soul out and really gave everything that's left. That's why after that she cried like a baby, huddled by the other 11.

I was like, oh come on, face the audience, the cameras of the world need you. But she didn't care. She's just done her biggest channelling session of her life, feeling all vulnerable and naked and hey guys pls protect me for a while...

In the age of Britney and Celine, I have not seen such genunie emotional power on TV for a long long time. Fantasia is the greatest gift to a machinic mtv world.

Raw is the word.

You know, in that final song, the few times she stopped singing one whole bar, and let the choir fill the space? I thought uh-oh she's affected by too much respiratory fluid. And then the next line, she soared even higher, pitch perfect. Madness. I was perspiring for her while tearing from the sheer greatness at the same time like an idiot.

Her whole physical being was so well-tuned that it can contain and release the surge of such immense raw emotional power - complete with artful adlibing. And I love the way she ended the song on an open, "infinity" note without her usual "yeah yeah yeah". A chapter is closed, another begins. It's an open ending for this girl.
